Yes, I said it. The new gamemode assault, which was just brought to Halo 5 Guardians is my favorite gamemode for a couple of reasons. The first of these reasons is that it leads to absolute chaos between both teams. Both the red and the blue team scramble to get the ball and defend their bases. Assault forces all the players of the game to one spot. New players to the gamemode made think that it’s a good idea to just charge into the action. However I found that sitting back and picking people off that are trapped in the chaos of the battle is a much better way to go about it. Assault brings several new strategies to the table. These strategies are also visible in the control of the bomb. There is a certain rush that you feel when carrying the bomb for your team. The first thing is that literally all of the players on the other team are rushing around the map trying to find you. At this point it is a little slower. However, as soon as someone sees you and puts one bullet into you all hell breaks out. The position of the bomb is available to both teams and as a result, both teams charge towards it. I enjoy the mixture of both slower and much faster pace in Assault. The last stand feeling you get when defending the bomb for the final seconds while it arms is also one of the highlights of the new halo 5 gamemode. The only issue here is that the other team can spam grenades into the arming area making it extremely easy to die while protecting the bomb. My only wish would be that player could pass the bomb similar to the way that players pass the ball in the uplink gamemode of call of duty. Maybe that would make it too easy to score.
